Immunisation

Program contact person – Carolyn Wilson

Overview

The Division’s Immunisation Program aims to improve immunisation rates within the Division boundaries of operation by supporting GP’s and practice staff in the delivery of immunisation services and working with other key vaccine service providers. The benefits of immunisation are promoted through various means within the community.

The Australian Childhood Immunisation Register

The Australian Childhood Immunisation Register is a national register administered by Medicare Australia that records details of vaccinations given to children under seven years. The General Practice Immunisation Incentives (GPII) scheme rewards general practitioners who promote and provide immunization for children under 7 years of age. Practices do not need to be accredited to access GPII, however practices must achieve immunisation rate benchmarks to receive an Outcomes Payment. Outcomes Payments will only be made to practices achieving coverage of 90% and over.
